Global Conference Series on Sustainable Manufacturing
The rationally required sustainability in our global
village shall be supported by innovative value creation in accordance
with social, environmental and economic criteria exploiting the dynamics
of market competition and cooperation. Sustainable manufacturing has
emerged as the leading paradigm to address the dilemma of maintaining a
progressive economic growth based on production of goods and services
without continuing to damage our environment or future economic and
social structures.
For almost 20 years the chairman of the Global Conference on Sustainable
Manufacturing (GCSM) Prof. Dr.-Ing. Günther Seliger and other members
of the International Academy for Production Science (CIRP, www.cirp.net)
have been scientifically dealing with sustainable manufacturing. The
GCSM is geared towards representatives of science and industry from all
over the world. The conference serves as a forum for international
research institutes and industrial companies related to the area of
sustainable manufacturing. It aims at strengthening relations on
sustainable manufacturing in the international network by both
scientific/educational and industrial cooperation projects. In 2014,
more than 140 participants from 30 countries contributed with 136
submissions.
For 2015 the conference organizations decided to host the conference in
Vietnam. Chairman Professor Seliger emphasized the role of emerging
countries for a sustainable development. Vietnam as one of the upcoming
"factories of the world" has a special responsibility and should be
enabled to a future industrial growth without having irresponsible
resource consumption, environmental pollution and inadequate working
conditions. High-tech solutions in innovative local product and process
applications are essential drivers for local but also global sustainable
development. The key for this development is qualification. Thus, local
and foreign companies and universities should act as agents of change
to boost sustainable manufacturing.
The GCSM is sponsored by the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP, www.cirp.net).
