Approaches to Urban Slums: Free Online Toolkit Offered by WBI

Approaches to Urban Slums is a free online, self-paced sourcebook that compiles the rich and growing body of knowledge on the vital issue of improving the lives of existing slum dwellers. At the same time, it helps in planning for new urban growth in a way that ensures that future urban residents are not forced to live in slums.
The sourcebook has 4 broad sections:

  • Thematic Interviews

  • More than 9 viewing hours of content
 
The sourcebook builds on an extensive body of knowledge accumulated from a wide range of sources over 35 years. 
 
The 18 video interviews share knowledge and opinions of urban stakeholders and experts from various perspectives, including development organizations, governments, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), community organizations, academia, and professional urban consulting.
 
The 14 self-running audiovisual presentations include photographs, illustrations, maps, graphic animations, and aerial imagery, along with voice-over narration.
